Awesome app to use! However, it is missing at least 1 important aspect, a major issue that keeps it from getting 5 stars... The major issue is does not have Japanese as a option for languages. Why? What if I want to immerse myself in the Japanese language and learn the specifics. What about the lesson section? It is more of a output method to approaching Japanese but helps more after the immersion (aka input method) process that the app itself lacks. Other issues is unable to turn off captions.

This is the best streaming service ever. Free, no commercials, very pleased.. I have had this app for a couple of years now, without any problems. There are a wide variety of wonderful shows. I rarely watch my cable Subscription TV. Did I say, FREE & NO COMMERCIALS, well it's worth repeating because it's very rare to find this in ANY streaming app. THANK YOU NHK WORLD-JAPAN!!! I always watch on my Samsung galaxy phone with no problems.

New version has closed captioning on by default for live broadcast with no apparent way to turn it off. Please add a switch to settings. Thanks. Also, captioning is way behind video which makes it that much more disruptive and annoying. When I switch to view NHK live broadcast in browser, it is OK. No closed captioning in browser view. Just a problem in the Android app.
