I suspect that the 1 star reviews can be attributed to the far right. I just downloaded the app. It is incredibly easy to use, showing article headlines with the first sentence or 2 as I scroll down. None of my information has been requested from me. No special permissions were required. I don't even have ANY subscriptions. Something stinks and it sure isn't the Guardian.

*** This is about the app, not the content *** May 2025: The new version is a bit harder to navigate than before. But other than that, I don't see what's the big deal. June 2025: About navigation. Suppose I want to go to the football section. I have to: Tap "Menu"; scroll and tap "Sport"; tap "Football"; tap "view all football". (The last step is especially annoying.) No way to "bookmark" this (and the app does not remember my preferences).

I like the app and I love the guardian. However, one essential thing is, it delivers no notifications whatsoever. I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I have gone through on both the app and my phone and checked the necessary options to make sure notifications come through. However none come through. I have multiple news apps on my phone, and I have never seen one notification from the guardian. Its unfortunate because then I will forget to check it from time to time, please fix this.
